The government is set to withdraw from the existing wage and allowance agreement with the unions of the Electricity Board and Petroleum Corporation.
Accordingly, the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that the collective agreement with the trade unions of the two institutions, which increases salaries by 25% every 03 years, and pays annual bonuses and other allowances, will be withdrawn.
The minister claims that he instructed the Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy to take the necessary steps to withdraw from the agreement.
