In a letter to Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Buddhasasana Executive Board has stated that the local government elections should be held without delay for the sake of the stable existence of the country and the government.
The letter also states that not holding the election is illegal and unconstitutional, and the government’s argument that the election will not be held due to lack of funds is unacceptable.
It states that state festivals can be stopped, import of luxury goods can be stopped, non-essential expenses of ministries can be limited and expenses needed for elections can be provided.
The letter has been issued with the signatures of Thrikunamale Ananda Nahimi and Diviyagaha Yasassi Nahimi on behalf of the Buddhasasana Executive Board.
