Representatives of about 40 trade unions in many fields across the country are engaged in protests and trade union actions today (01).
It is against the unfair taxation of the government.
It is stated that trade unions in many sectors such as ports, fuel, electricity, water, banks, railways, universities, telecom are joining the protest and doctors, teachers, principals, and railway and postal workers are supporting it and mentioned that they are not going on a strike.
Also, its General Secretary Mr. Ajith K. Thilakaratne, mentioned that the Government Pharmacists Association will also join the protest.
