Under the National Information and Cyber Security Strategic Plan, the Cyber Security Act will be submitted to the Parliament this year, says Mr. Kanaka Herath, Minister of State for Technology.
This Act will enable us to control the risk of misuse of digital systems by some.
He also points out that it will be possible to prepare the legal framework needed to protect critical digital infrastructure and establish the Information and Cyber Security Regulatory Authority.
Mr. Kanaka Herath said this while participating in a workshop jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum (CERT) and the World Bank in Colombo regarding Sri Lanka’s new cyber security strategic plan.
Mrs. Chiyo Kanda, Sri Lanka Manager of the World Bank who spoke at this said that the World Bank has been working together for the development of Sri Lanka for about 70 years and will continue to provide the same support in the future.
World Bank’s Senior Digital Development Specialist (Ms. Junko Narmatsu) and other public sector officials attended this event.
