The death toll from the Turkish earthquake has exceeded 29,000.
It has been confirmed today that the missing Sri Lankan woman is also among them.
Mrs. Hasanti Urugodawatta, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Turkey, stated that she is a 64-year-old resident in Galagedara, Meegahahena. The ambassador said that she is a person who has been staying in Turkey for about 20 years.
She also mentions that this body was found during the search operations conducted by Turkish security forces and rescue teams. It is said that the daughter came to the area where her mother was and identified the dead body.
There are 16 Sri Lankans staying in the earthquake-affected areas, 14 of them are students. So far, only the woman whose body was found has been reported to have lost her life from this earthquake.
