Vavuniya Mayor Rasalingam Gautam has been arrested today for assaulting a Vavuniya inn manager.
That was after investigating a complaint received to the Vavuniya Police.
Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that complaints had been received that the mayor had also threatened two employees of the inn.
Vavuniya Police are conducting further investigations.
