Bakery product prices go up with the decision of the Prima Industry

With the Prima industry’s decision to increase the price of wheat flour (milk brand) by Rs. 3.50 per kg from today (15), the bakery owners have taken action to increase the prices of all bakery products except bread.

Prima has so far sold a 50 kg sack of Milk Brand flour for Rs. 4,000. Prima wheat flour dealers say that with the new price increase, a 50 kg sack of flour will increase up to Rs. 4175.

This increase in prices and the rise in fuel prices have had a severe impact on bakeries. Therefore the prices of bakery products including fish bun and tea buns will increase by Rs. 5 to 10 apart from bread, said the President of the Bakery Owners’ Association Mr. N. K. Jayawardena.
