China’s finance minister, their central bank governor, is scheduled to attend a roundtable discussion in India in February with other creditors and some borrowers.

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, said this recently (5) in a CBS interview.

“China has had to change its policies because low-income countries cannot pay their debts,” she said.

“What we are doing is to invite all lenders, traditional lenders with advanced economies, new lenders like China, Saudi Arabia, India, as well as private sector lenders, debtor countries to this round table to discuss.”

Georgieva said last month that the first-of-its-kind meeting would coincide with a meeting of a group of about 20 finance officials in India.

“The Chinese finance minister and the governor of the People’s Bank of China are going to participate in this discussion,” she told CBS.
