The captain of the Express Pearl has been arrested today by the CID in connection with the incident happened in the ship.
The arrested captain is a Russian person.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that he is due to be produced before the Colombo High Court No. 1 today.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) emphasized that the High Court No. 1 deals with cases, especially those at sea, and that the exclusive jurisdiction is vested in the Colombo High Court.
The CID is conducting further investigations.
