The Navy arrested 3 suspects along with a dinghy boat with 237.5 kilos of Kerala ganja worth Rs. 71 million smuggled into the country from India this morning (14).
The Navy said that the ganja was found during a special operation in the seas north of Point Pedro when inspecting a suspicious dinghy boat sailing towards the shore. Two sacks of Kerala ganja were found in the boat and 06 sacks were found thrown in to the sea.
The 03 suspects aged between 28 to 29 were identified as residents of Point Pedro and Achchuveli. The suspects are to be handed over to the Kankesanthurai Police for further legal action. Meanwhile, the Navy and the Coast Guard are conducting further search operations in the sea area.
