Sri Theatre Company will bring its latest original performance to the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Colombo to kick off 2023.
Once Upon a Family, which is Sri Theatre Company’s fifth original production, will go on board at the Lionel Wendt Theatre on January 13 and 14 at 7.00pm.
Though it is predominantly an English language play, it features accents of Sinhala and Tamil, making it a complete and authentic Sri Lankan experience.
The plot of the play focuses on a Muslim family living in Sri Lanka in the 1990s, during a period when the country was drowned in riots and chaos.
When one chooses to silence the conscience, consequences can be catastrophic. Shaped by both the external and strong internal conflicts that exist inside the family, the play ultimately builds to a finale that you will not want to miss.
The Sri Theatre Company, based in Kandy, initially produced an original play in 2014 and has since put on numerous more, providing residents and visitors with a taste of the best of English theatre.
