The Sri Lanka Freedom Party says that they will contest the local government elections as a left-wing alliance party.
The deputy secretary of the party Mr. Sarath Ekanayake said that he is currently negotiating with 6 other major parties.
Also, the Supreme Lanka Coalition says that they will contest the local government elections under a broad national front.
Its national executive member, Member of Parliament Mr. Weerasumana Weerasinghe said that he is currently negotiating with several parties in this regard.
