A foreigner who filed a false complaint to get insurance money was caught

Matara police information revealed that a Hungarian national who came for a visit to this country has submitted a false complaint with the aim of obtaining insurance compensation, that thieves have entered the hotel where he is staying and stolen the property.

The Hungarian national who was staying at a tourist hotel in Madihe area of Matara is a 49-year-old named Suz Aksaba.

He was ready to leave the country after finishing his trip today. The day before yesterday (05) he made a complaint to the Matara Police that his laptop, mobile phone, 100 US dollars, and 20,000 Sri Lankan currency were stolen from the room he was staying in.

When the police were about to start an investigation in this regard, he said that an investigation was unnecessary and that if only a copy of the complaint was received to get the insurance money, it would be enough.

Upon the suspicion built, the police checked the security cameras of the hotel and found that no outsider had entered the room where he was staying during the said period. The police information also stated that the complainant foreigner was quite upset when questioned about it.
