The Department of Motor Transport says that they will remove the provincial characters from the number plates in case of new vehicle registration and transfer of ownership from January 1.
Its Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe also announced that the system of deducting points based on the traffic offenses committed by drivers will be implemented by March next year, while attending a press conference held in Colombo today (30).
