Jaffna Kings won the 2022 Lanka Premier League championship after defeating Softlogic Colombo Stars by two wickets in the final.
In the final match held at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Ground, Jaffna Kings, who won the toss and invited the Softlogic Colombo Stars to bat first, managed to restrict them to 164/5 within 20 overs. Dinesh Chandimal and Ravi Bopara scored 49 and 47 runs, respectively for Colombo Stars.
The Jaffna Kings team, who were chasing, had a successful start, but the Softlogic Colombo Stars team gave a strong fight to limit their chances of victory till the last over.
Avishka Fernando, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Sadeera Samarawickrama played brilliant innings of batting to bring Jaffna Kings ahead. Gurbaz scored 36 runs in 18 balls, Avishka Fernando scored 50 runs in 43 balls, and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 44 runs in 27 balls.
The Man of the Match award went to Avishka Fernando of the Jaffna Kings team, the Man of the Tournament award went to Sadeera Samarawickrama of the Jaffna Kings team, and the Emerging Player award went to Vijayakanth Viyaskanth of the same team.
