A robber who snatched a necklace was freed by another robber by attacking the police

The Gampola police officers, who caught a suspect who snatched a gold necklace of a woman and was fleeing on a motorcycle, were attacked by another suspect involved in the robbery and took away his accomplice.

This incident happened yesterday evening.

According to the police, this incident happened as follows.

The telephone operator of the Gampola Police Station informed the officers on duty on the road at around 2.00 pm through a radio message that two persons who robbed a gold necklace worth about Rs. 80,000 were fleeing on a motorcycle bearing the number UH-7910.

Police Inspector Rizvi, who was engaged in operational duties in the city at that time, immediately alerted the officers engaged in operational duties and told them to be on the lookout for the motorcycle.

Police Inspector Rizvi was staying in the police three-wheeler. At that time, the motorcycle passed near the three-wheeler he was riding. Then the officer immediately informed the police officer driving the three-wheeler to chase the motorcycle.

Accordingly, after chasing the motorcycle, the three-wheeler overtook the motorcycle and stopped the three-wheeler across the road at a narrow place on the road. There, the police officers caught one person on the motorcycle. There, one person ran away, and after a while, he came there and attacked the police officers with a motorcycle helmet and ran away.

Several police officers were injured. Police Inspector Rizvi is among them. The police say that he is currently being treated at Gampola Hospital.
