A special police team of the Criminal Investigation Department has arrested three people, including a husband and wife, on suspicion of burning and damaging the party office of State Minister Indika Anuruddha at Marandagahamula on May 09.

Former members of the Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, M. R. K. Alwis and Madushika Gunasekara, and her husband have been arrested.

They were elected to the local council by the United National Party and later joined the Samagi Jana Balawega. The Criminal Investigation Department states that for that reason, they have lost their seats as local council members.

The three were released on bail after being produced in court.
