A robber broke into the house in Bambalapitiya on Skelton Road of a businessman involved in selling vehicles yesterday and ran away with cash and jewellery worth about Rs. 30 million and the firearm owned by the businessman.
The police say that the firearm is licensed.
The businessman had gone to his place of business when the robbery took place. The police say that only the wife was in the house.
The police say that the robber entered the businessman’s room on the third floor of the house and fled with 6000 US dollars, Rs. 1 million in cash, Rs. 10 million worth of gold items, a firearm with 12 rounds of ammunition and with few other properties.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect entered the garden from the backyard and entered the house by hanging from the drain pipes and climbing to the upper floor.
