Former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s Media Director General Sudewa Hettiarachchi was arrested this evening on a charge of drunk driving and released on police bail along with the car.
That is after he was presented to the Kandy Police regarding not allowing an army motorcycle to overtake in the Katugastota area, which is guarding a bus carrying a group of foreign military leaders.
The police say that the Sudewa Hettiarachchi continued to ignore the signals given to the car, to make way on the road for the bus.
The police also say that there was an argument between the military motorcycle officers and Mr. Sudewa Hettiarachchi.
There, the military officers, knowing that Mr. Sudewa Hettiarachchi was drunk, handed him over to the police.
He was arrested after an alcohol test.
Three people were traveling in the car with Mr. Sudewa Hettiarachchi and there were singers among them.
