The government’s decision regarding the mandatory retirement age in public service has been issued through a gazette notification.
The gazette notification states that all civil government officials must retire from service when they reach the age of 60, except for officials whose mandatory retirement age has been determined by the Constitution or by any other law.
This will be effective from the first day of January next year (2023).
This has been issued with the signature of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
