Tourism and Lands Minister Mr. Harin Fernando said that a new mobile application (App) will be introduced for the safety of tourists coming to Sri Lanka while promoting the tourism industry.
The Minister said this when the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Tourism and Land Affairs met in Parliament under his chairmanship.
He added that the mobile application is expected to be launched in January.
Also, the minister further explained that tourists who wish to check their location could check it through this app and can take steps if they get lost or need to take some safety measures.
The minister also said that for the safety of tourists, a tourist police team will be stationed at every coastline with tourist attractions.
Mr. Harin Fernando also mentioned that it is planned to bring 1.5 million tourists to Sri Lanka, especially in the year 2023.
