A person transporting a load of explosives in a car was arrested yesterday by the Police Special Task Force at Galagoda Junction in Meetiyagoda Police Domain.
02 gelatine sticks, 04 non-electric detonators, 01 service thread, 04 kg of ammonia nitrite were found in the car.
A 44-year-old resident of the Mapalagama area has been arrested for transporting these explosives and handed over to Metiyagoda Police Station for further investigation.
The Police Special Task Force states that investigations are being carried out to determine whether the explosives in possession were used for any crimes.
These explosives can spread from 6400 to 8600 feet per second, and these explosives belong to the category of low explosives. This has the ability to destroy buildings and vehicles, according to the media section of the Police Special Task Force.
According to the information received by the officers of the Special Task Force Kuligoda Sub-camp, according to the orders and instructions of Special Task Force Commander DIG Attorney General Waruna Jayasundara, under the guidance of the Regional Commander Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Vindura Dissanayake, under the supervision of the Special Task Force Kuligoda Sub-camp, a team of officers including Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. C.
