A police officer who was traveling on his motorcycle lost control and hit a power pole and died yesterday when a team of anti-corruption officers of the Panamura Police Station were returning to the police station for a drug raid when a dog jumped across the road in front of one of the policemen’s motorcycle.
Police Constable G. S. Shantha, who was riding behind the motorcycle, has died. This officer is a resident of Katuwana Panganvilaya.
Police say that the police officer who rode the motorcycle is also being treated in Embilipitiya Hospital in a serious condition.
