Speaker of the House and Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premjayantha says that he is being accused by some websites of distributing books with religious extremism because he is currently distributing the revised 2022 textbook for 6 to 11 years on the subject of Islam to children.

He said this in Parliament today (17).

Various accusations were made regarding certain matters in these textbooks and accordingly, a special committee appointed consulted these matters and made the relevant revision and reprinted them.

However, the Minister of Education emphasized that he is being accused of distributing books with religious extremism on certain websites and that these allegations are completely false.

“These books are distributed with the unity of all religions. What I did was to do justice to all the children. I did the right thing. Those children will appear for the O/L examination in the coming month of May. Every child should be given equal opportunity, this website is spreading lies. If this is not stopped, a privilege issue will be brought,” said the Education Minister.
