Western Provincial Education Director Sri Lal Nonis said that the principal of Bandaragama Gungamuwa Junior College, who was arrested and remanded on suspicion of cruelly assaulting several school students, has been suspended.
The principal was summoned to the National Child Protection Authority and arrested and presented to the court after receiving statements.
The principal had beaten up the students and handed them over to the police for allegedly stealing a teacher’s purse.
The National Child Welfare Authority had reported the facts to the court recently that the police officers had also brutally attacked the students.
