The number of cases of a deadly new coronavirus rose to more than 28000 in mainland China Thursday, days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a global public health emergency. Most Covid deaths are reported in the Kalutara district

The Government Medical Officers’ Association states that the highest number of corona deaths in the island is reported from the Kalutara district and 28% of the corona deaths in that district are due to deaths at home.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association states that 18% of corona deaths in the Colombo district are reported at home.

The association estimates that an average of 38 corona patients die each day in Sri Lanka.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association also states that occurring death of corona patients at home is a serious problem.
