The Ministry of Health has announced today that a monkeypox patient has been identified for the first time in Sri Lanka.
The infected person is a 20-year-old Sri Lankan and came from Dubai on November 1.
He was referred to the National STD Clinic yesterday (02).
Health authorities have indicated that the disease can be located on or near the genital organs (penis, testicles, vagina and related) or anus of a monkeypox patient.
A rash may also occur in other areas such as face, mouth, hands, feet, chest.
