The death toll has risen to 134 after a suspension bridge collapsed today (31) in the city of Morba in the state of Gujarat, India.
According to the Indian media, the police have arrested nine people in connection with this incident.
Many of the dead were children. Indian police investigating the bridge collapse have arrested 9 people including ticket clerks and contractors.
Moments before the collapse, CCTV footage shows a group of youths taking pictures while others try to swing from side to side on the suspension bridge at Morba. Just then the cable of the bridge broke and the people on the bridge fell into the river.
A senior police officer said nine people, including the management staff, ticket clerks and three security personnel, were arrested for failing to control the crowd before the bridge collapsed.
Among those arrested are two people who gave a connection to renovate the structure, originally built in 1877.
