The officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Task Force located in Walana, Panadura today arrested a luxury jeep which was allegedly owned by a former deputy minister Mr. Nishantha Muthuhettigama and driven with a fake number plate.

The jeep was driving with a police officer inside. He is an officer attached to the Minister’s Security Division and is assigned to Mr. Mutuhettigama’s security.

A problematic situation has arisen due to the fact that an officer of the minister’s security department has been appointed to Mr. Mutuhettigama who is not even a member of parliament.

During an inquiry about it, the former minister said that he had paid money and got the security officer from the police.

When asked about this from a senior police officer, he said that some investigation should be done about it.

There was no document related to this jeep, which is said to belong to Mr. Nishantha Mutuhettigama, and even the number displayed on the jeep was found to be a car number.

The police officer who was arrested with the jeep has been handed over to the Galle police station for further investigation.
