A prime minister has visited the pension department for the first time to look into pension issues

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena instructs officials to appoint a committee at the ministry level to provide prompt solutions to pensioners whose files have been misplaced in the past due to various natural causes.

The Prime Minister looked into the problems of the pensioners and appointed a committee at the Public Administration Ministry level to resolve the problems of the pensioners and gave instructions to the senior officials of the Pension Department.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena also joined the retired government officials who had sacrificed their lives for many years in public service.

The retirees expressed their thanks to the Prime Minister for submitting and approving the retirement gratuities to the Council of Ministers.

Currently, the total number of pensioners is 689,770.

This is the first time that a Prime Minister has visited the Pension Department.

The Prime Minister mentioned this during an emergency inspection to look into public issues at the Pension Department in Maligawatte.
