Landslide risk is extended for several districts

The National Building Research Organization says that the landslide warning issued yesterday for several districts will remain in effect today due to the ongoing heavy rains.

It is a stage three (red) (withdrawal) landslide warning in effect till 4.00 pm today (17).

Accordingly, red notices have been issued for the areas of Walallawita, Ingiriya, Palindanuwara and Bulathsinghala in Kalutara District, Ambagamuwa in Nuwara Eliya District, Kalawana and Aheliyagoda in Ratnapura District.

Warning Level 2 – Be Careful (Amber) has also been issued in several districts.

Second-level warnings have been issued for the areas of Dodangoda, Horana, Bandaragama, Millaniya, Matugama and Agalawatta in Kalutara District, Ruwanwella, Warakapola and Dehiowita in Kegalle District and Kuruwita, Ayagama, Nivithigala, Alapatha, Ratnapura, Kiriella and Pelmadulla in Ratnapura District.

The organization adds that alert notices have been issued to several other districts. The first level warnings have been issued to Sithawaka and Padukka in Colombo district and Baddegama in Galle district, Kalutara, Beruwala, Panadura Sahamadurawala in Kalutara district, Yatianthota, Deraniyagala, Mawanella and Bulathkohupitiya in Kegalle district.
