Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe says that fuel prices may rise in this country in the near future depending on the fuel production and supply situation in the world.
The President points out that there are predictions of a drop in fuel production in the world at the end of this year and the beginning of next year, so if that happens, the impact of global inflation may be greater on South Asian countries.
While making a special statement in the Parliament, the President said that due to this, plans should be made from now on to keep the price of fuel affordable for the people of this country.
The Leader of the House also announced that a debate will be given to the special statement made by the President in Parliament today.
