The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has chosen to avoid representation in the National Assembly.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party is of the opinion that it is a nominal committee that aims to indirectly obtain the approval of all the parties representing the parliament for all the decisions of the government.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party claims that it is clear that an attempt has been made to falsely convey to the international community that political stability has been established in the country by installing an all-party government.

It is the position of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party that justice will not be done to the uprisings that took place across the country by the so-called ‘National Assembly’.

Taking this situation into account, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party said that they will not represent the National Assembly and will work from the opposition to support any positive policy decision taken by the government for the good and security of the country regardless of narrow political gains.

Also, in line with this position of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the party also mentions that they are saluting all the brother political parties who abstained from participating in the proposed National Assembly.

Below is the announcement issued regarding that.
