Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to hold a signing ceremony today (30), officially announcing the annexation of the territories acquired from Ukraine to Russia.

It is also special that the areas declared by President Putin as belonging to Russia are about 15% of the total territory of Ukraine. A referendum was also held for about five days to acquire these territories to Russia.

Dmitry Peshkoch, the spokesperson of the Russian President, has stated that the ceremony marking the annexation of Ukrainian territories will be held today (30) at 3 pm local time. Accordingly, the ceremony is scheduled to be held at St. George’s Hall in the Kremlin Palace.

Russia invaded Ukraine last February, where Russia was able to take control of a significant area of Ukraine. An emergency referendum was recently held in the areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, which were obtained in this way, and he said that the people of these areas would be given the opportunity to oppose joining Russia.

However, the Western countries heavily criticized the referendum held by Russia and the European Commission had announced that it would take steps to impose severe economic sanctions.
