The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has decided to extend the time allotted for debating the affairs of the government by half an hour from the 4th Tuesday, and to give that time to the independent members of the Parliament to express their views.
This decision was taken at the Parliamentary Affairs Committee chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena this morning (29).
Accordingly, the time for debating the affairs of the government, which is scheduled to end at 4.30 p.m. will be extended till 5.00 p.m.
It has been agreed to allocate remaining 30 minutes till 5.30 p.m., to debate the resolution when the House adjourns and it to set aside one day once in 02 days to ask the questions at the time of adjournment.
The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has decided to hold the debate on the 22nd Constitution Amendment Bill on the 6th and 7th.
Parliament is scheduled to meet from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th. On the 3rd the entire day from 9.30 a.m. in the morning up to 4.30 p.m. is reserved for 50 questions that require oral answers, which could not be asked in Parliament before due to various reasons.
Every day from the 4th to the 6th, except Friday, October 7th, the time from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. is reserved for questions requiring oral answers.
