Mr. Ajith Gunasekara, President of the All Ceylon Poultry Businessmen’s Association, says that there may be a shortage of eggs in the future.

He said that this situation has arisen due to the decrease in the import of mother animals and currently the mother animals owned by the farm are also being sold for meat.

Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera says that the import of mother animals required for poultry industry has decreased from 80,000 to 10,000.
