Money is taken from the farmer’s fund and Agricultural Insurance Board to buy paddy

It is planned to get Rs. 500 million from the Farmers’ Trust Fund and the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board for the purchase of paddy in the Yala season.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Rohana Pushpa Kumara stated that this decision was reached in a discussion held yesterday (22) under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture.

Accordingly, Rs. 200 million are to be obtained from the Farmer Trust Fund.

The Secretary mentioned that Rs. 300 million are to be obtained from the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board.

This amount will be given as a loan to the Paddy Marketing Board.

The secretary said that with the receipt of this money, the purchase of paddy in the Yala season can be resumed.
