School children transporters are helpless

The All-Island School-Transport Association states that the people who were transporting school children have fallen head over heels as they have not had any income for months.

The buses and vans have been parked for months without any revenue and have even been subjected to technical faults due to lack of proper maintenance. Mr. L. Malshree de Silva said.

He also said that they did not receive the allowance of Rs. 5,000 provided by the government to those who lost their livelihood due to covid.

The Chairman said that at least another 6 months grace period should be given to school children transporters to pay the monthly installments due to loans and finance companies.
