A school student who was heartbroken due to his father’s frequent drunken quarrels with his mother has committed suicide.
Nilanga Bandara, is the school student residing in Kivuldeniya, Galapitamada, who committed suicide.
This student also has a younger sibling. The police say that the father is a person whose job is to cut trees and the mother is a person who is engaged in work in plantations, including plucking tea leaves.
The father is an alcoholic. The police say that he is drunk and often quarrels with the residents. A senior police officer mentioned that there have been complaints to the police and that after being warned by the police in each case, he was fine for a few days.
The police say that the student’s father came home drunk on the night of the 16th and had a fight with his mother. The police say that the two collided there and the 119 police emergency number has also received a complaint about it.
The student’s brother was not at home when the conflict took place. According to the notification made to the 119 police emergency department, the officers of the Galapitamada police arrived there and at that time both the mother and the father were not at home. Only the student was there. Accordingly, the police have recorded a statement from the student. Early in the morning, the police came to know that the student had committed suicide by hanging himself in a room of the house.
At that time, both the mother and the father were not at home and the police found the father lying on the ground at a bus stop in Ruwanwella.
The police say that even if a child who was to take charge of the country’s future lost his life because of the parents’ misunderstanding, children should not take stupid decisions to lose their lives due to such things. Therefore, the police also request the children not to make such decisions instead of facing every challenge that comes their way.
