President Ranil Wickramasinghe has told the international community that what the majority of the country wants is to resolve the crisis in this country.

Joining Australia’s ABC media network’s program ‘Foreign Correspondent’, the President answered several questions asked by the anchor.

Question – Recently, many activists are being arrested. Will that solve the crisis?

President – “I don’t think this crisis can be solved by burning state property. We all need to understand that. do you think that either by capturing the President’s office or setting my house on fire, or capturing the Prime Minister’s office or them converging to capture the Parliament, will be able to solve any of our problems?”

Question – Do you think that this crisis can be solved by arresting people or breaking them?

President – “We are arresting those who violated the law. I am not the person who’s doing it. Just like in your country, the police do it. And it is the police who decide whether they will be brought before the law. Everything has been done legally.”

Question – Many people like Father Jeewantha, the student union leader Wasantha…

President – “I know who and the trams you talked to. You are trying to ask me the incidents related to this minority. But I am answering for the majority.

Question – Can you understand that the majority of the country is suffering and angry at this situation?

President – “I can understand that the majority of this country is suffering and they need a solution. But they were not the ones who were involved in above incidents.”

Question – Do you have majority support in your country?

President – “In the country. Yes. I was the only one who said the right thing, to go to the IMF. That’s why I have confidence to support. That’s why I have faith in myself, that I can do it.”
