According to the Ministry of Public Security, about 25 house break-ins and gold necklace robberies are reported in different parts of the island.
Its secretary Mr. S. Hettiarachchi mentioned that there are reports of drug addicts breaking into houses and grabbing necklaces.
The secretary mentioned that there will be an increase in bringing drugs called Ice from India to Sri Lanka by sea.
Meanwhile, Mr. S. Hettiarachchi mentioned that special police teams have been deployed to stop the killing sprees in the southern province these days.
The secretary noted that the killings were due to ongoing disputes between organized criminals and drug traffickers.
