A woman was killed in a shooting that took place this morning in the office of the organizer of the Kegalle Samagi Jana Balawegaya Mr. Lakshman Dissanayake on Kalugalla Road, Kegalle.
She is a 36-year-old Sakuntala Weerasinghe, an office worker who is a resident of Habudugala.
The police say that she is an unmarried person.
The police say that she came to the office this morning with the organizer Lakman Dissanayake and was shot with a weapon using type 03.8 ammunition.
She was shot in the chest. The firearm was also found lying there.
The police say that an investigation is going on whether someone shot her or she shot herself. A police officer said that if she had shot herself, a separate investigation would have to be conducted as to how a firearm came to the office.
