The Embilipitiya court has today ordered the remand of the Sevanagala OIC, who is accused of abusing a police constable.
This is in view of the submissions made by the Children and Women’s Bureau to the court.
The constable had come to the Children and Women’s Bureau and submitted a complaint against the Sevanagala police OIC. Accordingly, when a police team from the Children and Women’s Bureau was about to arrest him, he went on leave and hid. Based on that situation, the officials of the Children and Women’s Bureau took steps to report the incident to the court. There, the Police Station Commander submitted an anticipatory bail application. The bail application was scheduled to be considered today. The Children and Women’s Bureau stated that the court rejected the bail application and ordered his remand.
This investigation was conducted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Renuka Jayasundara, in charge of Children and Women’s Bureau.
