Heart to Heart, a recognized global humanitarian organization based in the United States of America, has received the government’s approval to send an emergency medical aid donation worth US$ 8,222,898.78 (about three billion rupees) to Sri Lanka.
The Ministry of Health and the Embassy of Sri Lanka have jointly taken steps to airlift this medical aid stock as soon as possible this week.
As with the first donation, all costs will be borne by the international organization ‘Heart to Heart’ and the Ministry of Health will accept the stock of medical supplies for free distribution among the Sri Lankan people.
Last month also the first batch of medical supplies worth USD 908,547 (Rs. 326,077,518.30) was awarded to Sri Lanka.
It was received by the Ministry of Health officials on July 13 for distribution purposes.
Continuing the process of obtaining emergency aid, under the guidance of Sri Lankan Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe, this stockpile of medical supplies contains essential painkillers, antibiotics such as Amoxicillin, Potassium Chloride, Penicillin and Venlafaxine, which are currently in short supply in Sri Lanka.
Until now, the Heart to Heart international organization has donated USD. 9,131,445.78 (Rs. 3,378,366.31) worth of emergency medical assistance has been provided to Sri Lanka.
Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe expressed his gratitude during the meeting on July 22 with Kim Carroll, the chief manager of the Heart to Heart Institute for the donation made by the international organization ‘Heart to Heart’ to Sri Lankan people at a time when the country is in a difficult situation.
Heart to Heart International Organization, headquartered in Lenexa, USA, is an organization that has been working since 1992 for humanitarian work aimed at promoting global health.
Currently, USD 2.5 billion in medical aid has been provided to over 130 countries.
This organization has provided medical aid and mobile volunteer services in response to natural disasters at home and abroad.
The organization is a 4-star charity and an affiliate of the BBB and is rated under the ‘Philanthropy 44’.
