The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the power generator that was inactive at the Norochcholai power plant was restarted last night (26).
On August 15, 2022, it was announced that a generator had broken down at the Norochcholai Power Plant.
The Norochcholai coal-fired power plant consists of three generators, each generating 300 MW, giving an output of 900 MW to the national grid.
Part of the electricity produced was used for the operations of the Norochchole coal plant, and only 270 MW of electricity can be added to the national grid from one generator.
When the first generator failed, the second generator was already out of service for essential maintenance.
