Sri Lanka Air Force launched a firefighting operation today (26) using a helicopter to fight a sudden fire in an area near Muthurajawela Kerawapitiya Swamp.
According to a request made by the Ministry of Disaster Management from the Sri Lanka Air Force, a Bell 412 type helicopter was used to dump water on the fire place with the help of Bamikhi buckets on 12 occasions.
The Air Force has also carried out monitoring of the fire using drones.
The Sri Lanka Air Force has worked hard to control the fire by deploying Air Force fire engines and fire fighters to support this operation from the ground.
