The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera has informed the Paddy Marketing Board not to allow any accusations to be made by the farmers regarding the purchase of paddy during the Yala season.
The minister has advised to take steps to buy paddy using instant cash purchases and not to waste the time of the farmers for any reason.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Paddy Marketing Board has made all arrangements for the purchase of paddy in the Yala season starting yesterday (17).
The Paddy Marketing Board is also issuing a circular to all regional managers to prepare all the equipment related to the purchase of paddy, such as moisture measuring devices, weighing devices, etc.
There are 07 regional offices and 310 paddy warehouses under Paddy Marketing Board.
