A Union of independent parties is requesting the government to take necessary steps to allow the Chinese ship, which has caused controversy, to enter the Hambantota port as previously permitted.

The union has also announced that it is pressing the Sri Lankan government to maintain the existing relations with other countries in a way that does not harm Sri Lanka-China relations.

It is said that the Indian and American embassies strongly influenced the government by asking them not to allow it to enter the Hambantota port as this ship could collect sensitive information in India.

The independent party alliance has emphasized that since China and India provide a large amount of economic aid to Sri Lanka, our country will not tolerate misunderstandings or diplomatic estrangement with China and India.

Below is the announcement issued by the union.
