A passenger who illegally brought a consignment of cigarettes worth Rs. 4,000,000 from Abu Dhabi to Sri Lanka was caught by the customs early this morning at the Katunayake airport.
This cigarette stock has been brought in a flight that arrived from Abu Dhabi at around 3.30 this morning.
There were 50,000 cigarettes and they were taken by a woman who lives in Grandpass. The customs officers who have taken her into their custody have taken steps to confiscate the cigarette stock. She will be fined and released.
