The prices of essential food items have gone down

Pettah Traders Association says that the prices of essential food items such as sugar, dhal, potatoes, onion, chili, etc. have come down significantly.

Mr. Deva Puran, a member of the executive committee of the association, says that the wholesale price of dhal, which was Rs. 600, is Rs. 410, and the wholesale price of sugar, which was Rs. 330, is now Rs. 270, and the wholesale price of potatoes, which was Rs. 215, has decreased to Rs. 150.

He also mentioned that the wholesale price of garlic which was Rs. 600 is now Rs. 420, the wholesale price of big onions which was Rs. 180 rupees is now Rs. 130, and the price of chilies which was Rs. 1900 is Rs. 1300.

He further said that due to the stabilization of the price of a dollar and the issuance of dollars by banks, the prices of essential goods have decreased.
